Letter Sounds A to Z (with Audio)
Before a child can blend, they need the sound each letter makes — not its name. The letter is called “bee” but says /b/, and mixing the two is the most common thing that stalls early reading.

Teaching tip
Keep the sounds clean and short. Say /b/, not “buh”. That extra vowel makes bat come out as “buh-a-tuh”, which no child can blend into a word.
