Word Families List (-at, -en, -ig, -un)
A word family is a group of words sharing the same ending chunk: bat, cat, hat, mat. Learn one and you can read the rest by swapping the first letter, which is an enormous shortcut early on.

Word families are the fastest confidence win in phonics. A child who has just read six words in a row feels like a reader, even though only one letter changed each time.
